Covid-19 - keeping us all well and safe
The training I already have as a therapist, means I am fussy about hygiene anyway, but for your peace of mind I am making my procedures more visible.
I will try to keep this short but thought it would be helpful for you to know what will happen during your visit, as things will be a little different.
I am allowing extra time in between appointments, which means you won’t bump into another Client, and I have more time to clean and sanitise.
Please bring a bottle of water with you, as I am not currently able to offer a glass of water.
If you, or anyone you have been in contact with has tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 30 days, please do not book an appointment, even if you think you feel fine. The same goes for me too of course - if I have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19, I will cancel my appointments and self-isolate for 2 weeks. I will also have to share the details of anyone I have been in contact with, it’s important that you know this, as it includes you.
We still find ourselves in a serious situation, if you feel ill at all, you must cancel your appointment. If you find out you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, you must cancel your appointment. The effects for me are far reaching and go way beyond having to contact all my clients.
The evening before your Appointment . . .
Consultations are still very much part of your Treatment but will now take place the evening before your Appointment by phone. This maximises contact time for your treatment, which is recommended to keep to within the maximum of an hour. Your appointment is YOUR appointment, and it is super important you feel like you get what you need.
What happens if I feel unwell on the day of my Appointment?
If you feel unexpectedly unwell either the day before, or the day of your appointment, please cancel as soon as possible. If your body is fighting any kind of infection whether bacterial or viral, getting a Massage will not help you at all.
These symptoms are the ones I wish to highlight:
- A new and continuous cough
- Loss of smell or taste
- A persistent high fever
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you need to stay at home, self-isolate and phone NHS 24 for guidance.
There will be no charge for cancellation due to illness.
What happens when I arrive?
As it is mandatory to wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces, please wear a face covering to arrive for your appointment. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering, please let me know prior to arrival.
When I greet you, I will be wearing a visor and a face mask, and an apron. Don’t worry though, I’m still smiling underneath all that 😊
Before you enter my home, I will take your temperature with a no-contact infrared forehead thermometer.
Please use the hand sanitiser provided when you come in.
You can be assured that all touch points including door handles, toilet flush and taps will have been sanitised between every visit.
What happens next?
Please follow me to the Treatment room, where I will ask you if there is any change to your health and well-being from when we spoke the evening before, and I will leave you to get ready. The chair in the corner has a fresh washable cover, so you can put your belongings on there.
Surface clutter has been removed, and everything in the treatment room is wiped down before your visit. I hope I have this bang on, but as always would welcome your Feedback.
When you are ready, lay on the treatment table face down, with the towel provided over you.
What happens during my appointment?
You may notice some chances in the drapes on the treatment couch and face cradle, this is to help me reduce waste, and make everything washable at high temperatures or wipeable between every Client.
I will not be wearing gloves during your treatment as research from the World Health Organisation suggests that thorough hand washing and abstaining from face touching are more effective outside of a clinical setting. Also, I use my forearms and elbows when massaging!
During your treatment, you do not need to wear a mask when face down, it is difficult to breath, also the air just scoots up the side towards me. I will require you to wear it when face up though please.
I can still use Hot Stones for your Treatment as they are thoroughly cleaned between treatments, and still have a selection of Massage Waxes which will be individually portioned.
Any work on your Neck & Shoulders will be done when you are face down, reducing close-proximity face to face contact for us both. There is even more emphasis now on the importance of no talking during your treatment, and I thank you for your understanding in this.
At the end of the treatment, I will again step out to let you get dressed. Please do take a moment to sit and steady yourself. You don’t have to rush. You may be used to us having a post-treatment consult which we cannot currently do, but if you would like me to phone you later in the day, please just let me know. And as usual, your feedback is always welcomed.
